What this site is for

This is patient education about an uneven face, published by Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. It is a concern guide rather than a procedure page: it answers whether this needs investigating at all, what is causing it, and which of several paths applies. The operations themselves, and the anatomy they work on, are explained on the face hub and on Dr. Mao’s own site, and repeating them here would help nobody.

The order the site is built on

It begins with the normal range rather than with treatment, because everyone has some facial asymmetry and most of it needs nothing. It then separates the causes — bone, muscle, fat and dental — because each answers to a different rung of the ladder and a treatment chosen before the cause is named is a guess. And it places the medical findings first wherever they are relevant, because asymmetry that is new, progressive, or accompanied by weakness or numbness is a different problem from one that has always been there.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not name products or brands, quote prices or dosages, or promise a result. It does not present filler as a way to change a shape that is determined by bone, or a soft-tissue treatment as a substitute for a dental assessment where the bite is the cause. It does not describe surgical technique, because that belongs to the pages that cover the surgery. And it does not treat a recent or progressive change as an appearance problem at any point.

The limits of a website

Nothing here can tell you whether your own asymmetry is a variation or a finding, or whether its cause is bone, muscle, fat or dental. That requires an examination of the face at rest and in movement, measurement, a photographic record and, where relevant, imaging and a dental opinion. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
